preparation for IELTS
" It doesnt matter if you're black or white ".Have you heard of this popular song by Michael Jackson ? This song encourages us not to discriminate. The word discriminate does not necessarily refer to colours , religions or races but also our passion. I disagree that those who choose to study less relevant subjects should not receive government funding .It is true there might be advantages of such an education policy but i do not think that it would outweigh the disadvantages
Malaysia is a democratic country, where supposedly the citizens of Malaysia have the freedom to make decisions, freedom to choose and freedom to speak their mind.Choosing our own path of future is definitely one of it.Can we actually define what does it really mean by less relevant subjects ? There is no exact source that can help us with this subjective interpretation because passion cannot be measured with any tools.Doing something we love will drive us to the peek of success . No matter what subject it is , as long as it is considered as knowledge , appreciation is needed.
It is debatable that government should only pay fees for students who study subjects that are needed by the society and to those who refused to stuck with the same typical ambition like doctor , lawyers , architects and other professional jobs will not receive government funding . This action will only discourage our youth to pursue their dreams . As a result , they end up loitering at the mall and spending time knocking the keyboards.
Believe it or not , time flies so fast. In year 2009 , we are overwhelmed with technology. Our status of living is not just measured by occupation and position we reach. Globalisation requires more than that . Can you imagine if there is no teacher in our music industry ? What will happen then to Malaysian singers ? Years ago , I believe not many people will think music's teacher as an option for them as many people think there will be no occupation out there for them. It is the same concept , society and family will discourage us to follow our passion as they tend to think that only those with professional job will have a better life.
Humans are not born perfect. This is a statement that we must instill in our mind. Some people are born to be just perfect and some people are born to be extraordinary. Despite all the perfection , there are also some people who are unfortunate . Maybe they are born captured or maybe their ability and capability in absorbing knowledge is quite slow compared to some of us. Should we abandoned them ? Most of us will answer no. However , do we realised that such an educational policy is almost the same like abandoning these people ? We cannot expect everyone to have the same ability and capability to give us medicines prescriptions and of course we cannot assume that everyone can solve the complicated calculus equations as easy as ABC. Therefore , these people needs to find other solutions in order to be educated . They still need to find their strongest strength and be the best in what they are doing.
There is no exact answer whether this educational policy should be practiced or not. There are alot of arguments that should be considered However , from my view of opinion , knowledge is a source of experience and there is no boundaries in knowledge . No matter what subjects we study , no matter what jobs we are doing , we have to give the best of ourselves
