It is that time of the year, the change of life-vows and the chance to reset your intentions.
We like the idea of starting new because it offers hope, bigger dreams and opportunities that might be out there in store for us.
To be fair, it is not the year but the moments that we spend on actually starting to act on our intentions that matter. But hello, I ain't going to ruin those because I believe no matter where we are at any point in life, there is always a reset button. New year, or end of year, reflection is always needed for us to get to know ourselves.
If there is anything I am up for this year, that is to practice self-love even better. How many times did we actually talk-back about how we look, how we act and how we let others treat us? So the goal this year is to allow myself to learn gradually and enjoy every bit of it without inserting so much pressure.
As a kickstart, I am now part of Lean In Malaysia Project Management team. I flirted with the organization few months back in two separate events after my trip to San Francisco or the visit to Stanford University specifically.
That trip did not turn out to be as I have expected but it turned out to be the best lesson I shall required. I felt and still feel the need to be empowered but the smell of the rose lingers longer on the hand of the giver, and so I believe there are many young girls and women out there worthy of the same kind of empowerment. Not the kind of argument which argues women are better than men or vice versa, but the kind that would inspire, aspire, and spark the motivation for us to move ahead in whichever field or dive deeper in achieving our dreams. To also understand that it is okay to demand respect from both women and men at work or social sphere. To understand that in any relationship, it is okay for you to also convey the need for partnership in managing household and children, so you wouldn't have to let pass of your career or ambition. To understand that when a guy acts inappropriately, you're allowed to say NO and move on from there.
I somehow feel that we tend to take our education for granted, especially considering how privileged some of us can be. I might have done the same but now that I've grown a little older, education is the wise tool that could help to educate and prepare the young kids to spread their wings. For the very same purpose, I am thinking of signing up with Treetop Organization in their aspiration to prepare young kids in Chiang Rai for better opportunities. The organization depends on volunteers to teach the kids so they will be equipped with English proficiency. I am unsure of the effectiveness of different teachers with differrent durations hopping on the board, but I always believe that there is no act can be too little too small in impact.
I received invitation to participate in Commonwealth Conversation on topic Economic Growth and Environmental Sustainability which I have no clue on what basis the invitation was given out, but indeed it was rather a pleasing one. Think I am now so out of clue when it comes to the topic, but guess I will be spending these few days understanding more of this and join the talk. Guess I will have to start somewhere?
Also, the aim is to complete both GMAT and Toefl before June 2018 so I can further prepare for my MBA in 2019.
Crazy how one can dream on so many things! Above all, the ultimate dream is to never go astray from His blessings and to not be tested on what my family and I unable to bear. :)
